Beside the three Cosmo threads closest to it, so the only thing changing is the colour.

Cosmo 2038

Cosmo 2040

Cosmo 2038 is #605042, RGB 96 80 66. The three beside it are the closest of the 500 Cosmo threads, measured the way the editor measures a colour match.

The same colour in DMC, Anchor and Madeira

Range	Code	Colour	How close	Distance
DMC	3790	Tree Bark	hard to tell apart	2.1
Anchor	903	Brown Grey LT	hard to tell apart	1.0
Madeira	1903	Beige Grey DK	hard to tell apart	2.6

Each one is the nearest thread that range has, picked by measurement rather than read off a maker's conversion chart. The number is how far apart the two colours are on the scale the editor uses to match a thread to a picture; under 1 and nobody could tell them apart.

The colour on this page is our screen value for the thread, not the maker's. No thread maker publishes one, so every chart on the web is somebody's estimate, this one included. Use it to compare shades against each other, and buy from a real shade card.
